With their shift about to end, firefighters from the Ossining Fire Department were dispatched to a Revolutionary Road residence late on Thursday, Oct. 3, where there was reports of a fire that broke out.
Officials said that upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the roof, prompting further assistance from nearby fire companies. Firefighters located the fire in the attic of the unoccupied home and was eventually knocked down.
Crews from the Croton-on-Hudson, Millwood, and Sleepy Hollow Fire Departments all assisted while the fire was being knocked down. The Westchester County Cause and Origin Team was then requested to pinpoint or confirm the origin of the free.
While locating the electrical panel in the basement to shut it off, members of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department located a family cat and returned it to the owner.
The Red Cross is assisting in the relocation of the residents. Firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday morning.
